This last weekend we visited Powell Gardens again to see their butterfly exihibit. We got up early and got there about the time it opened hoping to avoid the excrutiating temperatures that we seem to be having right now. The flowers, as always, were beautiful
and the butterflies (that we saw) were also beautiful.
They had tons of activities for the kids but by the time we made it outside we were all sweating buckets. Here is Ella in her new set of antennas.
We made our way through the garden and grabbed a fantastic fresh bite to eat at the little cafe.
Ella enjoyed her snow cone
while Kyndall enjoyed the shade and a book.
We quickly decided we couldn't put the girls through this anymore and made our way back home. After being at home I realized that we missed the entire butterfly exihibit altogether. We saw the native butterflies but totally walked past the exotic butterflies, darn! But with the temps like they are and the hour drive it takes to get there, they will just have to wait until next year. My two favs!!
Here are just a few more pics from this week. We have been stuck inside since it is so hot outside, which stinks! Even at 7am, it is already so hot that I am sweating just from watering the garden. Oh well, we will live it up inside!
Speaking of garden, we have some company in our garden this summer. Yesterday I walked out to about 20 swallowtail babies on our fennel!! How exciting, every year we have had some sort of butterfly to raise. I brought in 6 to raise inside and keep over the winter since they don't hatch right away. I am hoping to find some Monarchs at my parents house later this month so that the girls can see them hatch!!
Here is one of our lovies!
The girls just love petting him, it is quite amusing. I hope you all have a great week!!
