Baseball already

Even though the mother nature seems to think it is already summer, I am still in spring mode. The garden is slowly getting planted and new grass seed is being feverishly watered twice a day in pure hopes of a beautiful lawn this year. With spring comes our favorite sport, baseball. Chase had his first game/tournament this past weekend. This is a new team for him and we were all a little anxious to see how this was all going to play out. Chase and his new teammates all did fantastic! They went 3-1, losing on Sunday morning to kick us out of the championsip playoff. And although losing on Sunday morning after winning three in a row was hard, the boys did so well together as a team. Endurance is definitely something that will need to be worked on since I think the boys were honestly just tired of playing. At any rate, we had a great time getting to know our new team and all the great families. Ella even managed to make a new friend - another Ella who is 6 and loves playing with the girls. Here are some pics:

Sliding face first into home kicked his butt this weekend. The catcher was back covering at 3rd base while Chase came home. Another time he slide face first and got his hand stepped on.

Not only was this our first game(s) but this was the first time that Chase was going to play against some of his friends from school, one of which is his really good friend. Chase was nervous but really wanted to pitch against this team. I think he finally wanted to show his friend that he really was a good pitcher, since they have never seen him play. Coach let him have this opportunity Saturday night. And can I just tell you, Chase was amazing. Not only did he strikeout his friend (and his other friend) he had some awesome statistics to show for his turn at pitcher. He threw over 70 pitches and 50something of those were strikes. He had 9 strikeouts. He kept his cool and threw the ball so well. His coach was really proud of him and so were we! We treated him to a little dinner date with only us after the game, while the girls were at home with our wonderful babysitter! This picture was right after he struck out his friend and I tell you the smile on his face was fantastic. I'm not saying that Chase was being mean, he just wanted to show his friends that he is a good player as well.

The rest of our weekend we spent cleaning up the house and relaxing a little. We have another game this week and practice, then Easter weekend is all ours :). Looking forward to lots of outside work and lots of outside play with the kids! Here's wishing everyone a very Hoppy Easter!!
