One Proud Momma

Waking up at 6am on a Saturday morning is getting harder and harder to do as the football season rolls on.  Football fields and stands scream our name and they lure us in with the hope of a good game every time.

They did not disappoint us last weekend. This was our championship game.
The big one.
The winner takes home all the glory of having the title of League Champs- National League Champs that is.

Chase was nervous and losing his socks the morning of the game, didn't help much. Man, I just can't believe the game I saw when I arrived at the fields a little late. This was by far, the best football game I have ever seen. Our boys fight their way for every win they get. They always play like their defeated the first half and then come back from behind to win it. They make their mom and dad's have heart attacks as we watch helplessly from the stands as they keep the scores close. I was ready for a butt whoopin' this game. I wanted a nice relaxing game. The boys had other ideas in mind.

I don't know all the details because I am not that type of girl and because really it doesn't matter unless you are there. But my son, my ever so talented, never works hard at any sport because he is such a natural, of a son, made 5 catches. 5. 3 of those catches were either in the endzone OR run in to the endzone. His last catch was nothing short of amazing. One of those Clips of the Week you see on ESPN. He was thrown the pass, he was being covered by 3 boys, he bobbled it, twice. Then caught it and ran for over 40+ yards. This catch made it to the endzone on the next play for our team to go ahead of this team with only :22 seconds left in the game. It was magic. Pure magic. And although I was crying when he caught that ball and ran, it was nothing like the tears that were coming down after the game.

My son was the team hero. He was high fived and patted on every part of his backside by every coach and every teammate. He was yelled at and told that he was awesome by everyone. He was mentioned for teh first time in our Coaches weekly email as a great play maker.

Chase has always been atheletic and never tries hard at any sport, which drives us all crazy. But there really hasn't been too many times that he is singled out as great for a play he has made. Today (Saturday) was his day. He earned this and worked so hard to have that attention. As I stood there and watched this happen to him, the tears were flowing. My cup runneth over for him as he stood in that moment, soaking it all in. I was so proud that now, everyone else can see how good he is. And so proud of him for his determination to get better at a sport that he loves. I did not have my camera that day as I had already taken so many pictures this season. What a shame. I am hoping someone else got some good ones. I wanted to share his story so that we have it in our history of the kids' lives here on the blog. There will be more to come from our weekend later this week.

Way to go my football player stud of a son, your momma is so proud of you!!
