Before we applied seed.
Last night was date night and man was it good. It was the best, I think!! Ryan cooked a pot of "to die for" blue crab and corn chowder. I mean it was delicious. It was so delicious that it took us both at least 10 minutes to eat it. We savored every bite and commented several times that we are going to make this again when we are in our beach house this June. We also had scallops and mushroom risotto which was almost as equally impressive as the chowder. And to top all of this off, we got to enjoy it outside where it was cooling off. There were no clouds in the sky, just a little sliver of a moon, and no bugs. At one point in the silence of our back deck I heard Ryan say, It doesn't get much better than this. Man, aren't you right!!
Today against the blue skies and winds, I decided it was time to get some of my started peas into the ground. There were outgrowing their little greenhouse and begging me to plant them.
So out I went to my freshly tilled and fertilized garden. This is my clean slate.
This is the beginning of my favorite time of year. This is my refiller when days are long and the kids are on my nerves...the garden refuels me. As I sat there planting my new peas in the ground with all the silence that comes with being outside with no one else out there, I realized why I like being outside so much.
It does refill my soul and reminds me that I am not alone in my journey in this temporary home (if you haven't heard that song by Carrie Underwood, I believe, you should, it is one of my favorites). I love feeling that I am a part of this Earth and that God is bigger than me, taking care of me and my temporary home, Earth. I just love the feeling of working the ground and making it grow.
And in some strange way, I know he is proud of me for my hard work with his creation.
So here is my official WELCOME post in honor of spring being here finally. Gotta love it!!
